Very good unit

Pros Excellent picture & sound, does not skip
Cons Car adapter expensive (there is a cheaper solution, though)
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Buy this unit and get a (somewhat) reasonably-priced, well-built unit with a very good picture and sound. You will not be disappointed.
I wanted a portable DVD player for the kids to watch in the car. We have a station wagon, so the old-style TV players were too big. I originally purchased an Initial 8-inch screen portable from Walmart.com for the (relative) bargain price of $397, which included a cig lighter adapter for the car. Of course, you get what you pay for and the unit was a piece of garbage. As soon as it was moved, even slightly, the disk skipped. So, this would not work at all in a moving car.

I returned the Walmart crap and bought this Panasonic unit (via the web, not wallyworld). Slightly smaller screen, but a true 5 hour battery and very thin. The player works flawlessly -- you can hold it and jump up and down and the DVD will not skip.

The slight downside was that for the price ($489) it did not come with a cig lighter adapter, and the Panasonic one is $90. I ended up purchasing a $25 voltage inverter (you plug that unit into the cig lighter and plug the player's AC cord into the inverter) and it works fine.

I purchased a "Suspension Theater", which is a bag designed to hold a portable DVD unit suspended between the front seats for another $80 and everything works great.

All in all, I recommend this unit. It is well built, has a good picture (viewable from a wide angle -- fine for 3 people in the back seat to watch) and good sound (I picked up a 3-way headphone adapter so 3 sets of headphones can be plugged in, and it works fine).

Also, the unit comes with the patch cords to plug it into a full-size TV, so you can use it in a hotel, etc as a regular DVD player (and it comes with a remote).

I purchased it from BuyDig.com.
