Yes
The Bottom Line:
Personal experience has been that the S27 will stand rigorous and regular usage and handles DVD-R AND DVD R with ease.
In harsh contrast to the negative post offered, I've had my Panasonic DVD S27 for over two years with absolutely no problems at all and I can only suggest he's been real unlucky.
Having had previous experience with Panasonic problems, I felt confident the performance and quality would stand up to fairly rigorous use.
I estimate I would run mine at least 2 hours a day, so that racks up an impressive 1400 to 1500 hours minimum without a hitch.
But the really interesting point I'd like to make is that it reads and plays DVD+R disks without hesitation... something Panasonic mysteriously fails to claim. Kinda strange when I would have thought it's such a selling point.
Because of consistent reviews on their reliability, I use Verbatim DVD+R's. My initial attempt with a Verbatim DVD+R 8x was as a test case and I was pleasantly surprised to find the S27 handled it immediately.
Not that Panasonic claim otherwise, but I've had no luck with dual layer recordable disks, however.
The quality of audio and video is very good and the controls via the remote are straightforward and extremely user friendly.
All in all, this is a most reliable, user-friendly and versatile DVD player. If you see one at a tempting price, it may well suit your cause.
