I moved up from a 4 megapixel Canon(G3). I've always owned Canon cameras and I was nervous to stray into new brands. I was considering the Rebel above all others. After reading EVERY review I could get my hands on, I decided to buy the Lumix. I fortunately waited several months for my birthday to roll around so the wife could have something to give me. In that time, Panasonic announced the newer 10 megapixel version and prices dropped on the 8 megapixel model. I shopped around and found one for $380! I like this camera. The lens is excellent. I can't vow for the image stabilization because I almost always shoot with a tripod. After adding a wide angle and extra filters, hip bag, flash, cable trigger, extra batteries and extended warrenty, I paid what I would have paid for a Rebel body. No regrets. For the money, there is no better camera.
