The Bottom Line:  Don't choose this camera.  It isn't very durable and there are some features I would have preferred such as regular batteries.
I obtained the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 about two years ago to take on a cruise.  It seemed to work well although one downside is the special battery it has which means if the battery runs down, either time to recharge the battery is needed or it would need a second pre-charged battery. My previous camera uses AA batteries which I used rechargeable batteries but I could purchase batteries when I needed them. I brought the old camera along just because of this issue with the battery.  The Lumix has some nice features such as the stabilizer for smoother videos and the display shows the date, time and the remaining number of pictures or the remaining minutes for videos.  It also accepts larger capacity SDHC cards for more pictures or longer videos although the 8GB card only records about 23 minutes of video.  The colors are vibrant and downloading is simple with the US cord provided.  It’s a little weighty for its size and can be a little awkward to hold for long periods of time.  Recently the camera often stops working showing the message " Please turn camera off and then on again" and the flash has stopped working and I would need to take it to an authorized repair shop for service.  I don't think I would shop for another Panasonic camera again.
