Great product

Pros Easy set-up, lots of features, compatible with most discs.
Cons Recording time limited to that allowed by a single DVD.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Has the more than enough features for the price. Considering some places charge $25 to copy a VHS tape onto DVD, it's already paid itself off.
I've owned this recorder for 2 weeks now & haven't been able to find a flaw. I had a little trouble connecting to my TV to see a picture, but managed to go through my VCR first & everything seems to be ok. I purchased it mainly because I wanted to transfer some old VHS tapes onto DVD. I was also interested in a DVD/VCR combo, but since I already owned a decent VCR, I went with this solo unit instead. It has 2 inputs in the back & 1 convenient one in the front (I use it for a camcorder). I've wasted a total of 1 DVD R so far (out of about 15), & that was my own fault for not having the correct input selected. Be sure to finalize the disc before trying to play it in other DVD players. The quality looks only ok when transferring from VHS. I attribute it to the low quality of my tapes. One of the features I have been very impressed with is the Simultaneous Record and Play function. You can be recording a program onto DVD-RAM & play it back while it's still recording. This feature doesn't seem to work with DVD-RWs. The recording & erasing is very simple & unlike VHS tapes, you don't have to worry about taping over a program you want to keep. I paid $199 tax at Fry's. I have since bought a Panasonic DMR-EH50 with a HDD. If you are willing to spend the money, a HDD combo is totally worth it. You can read my review on that unit as well.
