Pros Low price, solid build quality, responsive, picture and sound quality, easy to use
Cons No digital inputs, no DVD+RW recording
Recommended it? Yes

With DVD recorder prices getting lower and lower, it is difficult not to get one. I needed to archive some programs off my DirecTivo, mainly Formula 1 races that I have accumulated last year on the Tivo's hard drive.

I got my Panasonic DMR-ES10 for $189, shipping and tax included. This is... Read full review »

Pros Amazing DVD RAM capabilities, great 4 hour mode, commercial skip, nice menu system, and...
Cons Oddly (un)balanced remote, and can't use number pad for TV channels
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased this unit at BJ's for $179 a few weeks after they ran out of stock on the older DMR-E30, which I had been pondering for some time, as it seemed to be the best value for the money out there. I'm glad I waited. The ES-10 is significantly improved, and still gives the most bang for the... Read full review »

Pros Excellent recording quality.
Cons Would have been nice if it could record to dvd+rw as well.
Recommended it? Yes

This is our second dvd recorder. The first was a Panasonic DMR-E75S combo unit ( vcr + dvd recorder ). The new ES10 is an improvement in that it can now record to more media types, dvd-ram, dvd-r, dvd-rw, and dvd+r. It cannot record to dvd+rw but can play it back. The ES10 also is designed for 8X... Cons Confusing manual. Typing chapter titles is slow.
Recommended it? Yes

This is my first DVD recorder and I read a lot of reviews before I bought it. I was nervous because it seemed like there were lots of complaints about every model out there. Fortunately, this one is a jewel and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I'd heard that DVD recorders could be very... Read full review »

Pros Value, easy of use, connectivity, performance.
Cons No S-video pass through.
Recommended it? Yes

I wanted a DVD recorder that can also dub as a progressive scan DVD player, and I got exactly what I wanted. The specs listed on Epinion is not exactly accurate. It has 2 inputs on the back, S-Video/RCA's, and one input on the front, S-Video/RCA. I don't think it does zoom on DVD playback but I... Read full review »

Buy the extended warranty or another brand

Pros Easy to operate inexpensive DVD recorder with good features.
Cons Bad reliability issues.
Recommended it? No

This unit failed just after the one year warranty expired. Since it wouldn't even turn on, I opened it up to get my DVD out of it and noticed a bulging capacitor. With a little bit of online research, I found a site that explains the problem well. It can be fixed by someone handy with a soldering... Read full review »

Pros Durability, Features, Multi Format Recording
Cons Lacks Zoom Button on Remote Control

I bought this unit about six months ago, as a refurb on Ebay.
After consulting Epinions, it seemed that Panasonic DVD recorders were
among the best. This is my first DVD recorder, and let me tell you I
am impressed.
It is heavy, and seems very well built.
I won't go into... Read full review »

Pros Easy set-up, lots of features, compatible with most discs.
Cons Recording time limited to that allowed by a single DVD.
Recommended it? Yes

I've owned this recorder for 2 weeks now & haven't been able to find a flaw. I had a little trouble connecting to my TV to see a picture, but managed to go through my VCR first & everything seems to be ok. I purchased it mainly because I wanted to transfer some old VHS tapes onto DVD. I was also... Read full review »

Cons No built in freeview or hard drive

I bought this product due to how happy i was with a previous panasonic model (DMR-E55) which i found very reliable, high quality and had lots of great features. I used it a lot more than the arerage person and had it for two years and had no problems. I only replaced it with the newer DMR-ES10... Read full review »

Awesome unit

Pros Records on DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R. Plays just about any format you can think of.
Cons No Digital audio INPUTS. (But not sure if any units have this.)
Recommended it? Yes

I wanted this unit to help me transfer my old camcorder tapes to DVD and also replace my VCR. I didn't go with a Hard Drive Unit as I will probably be adding an HD PVR to my set up soon and thus felt it would be redundant in the future.

I have digital cable and I, like one, or two of the... Read full review »
