Good value for money

Pros Inexpensive, plays well both PAL and NTSC discs and most importantly compatiable with old TVs.
Cons Front panel is not very aesthetic.Little more bulky
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you are looking for an inexpensive DVD player and not want to upgrade your TV, this player is for you.It can play both PAL and NTSC formats.
I choose this player after an horrible experience with Sony NS 51P player. Originally I had Grundig GDV 130 which has lived its life (though short!).Every one at home voted for SONY and I went for NS 51P.Came home and inserted the disc only to see black & white picture. Although my old TV (Sony only)is capable of receiving both PAL and NTSC signals, SONY DVD player could not play NTSC discs (in colour)and the response from SONY service centre was to upgrade my TV.

It was frustrating experience to explain them that my Grundig player was fine with both formats but they can't help to make NS 51P to work. Further this player was unable to play most of the animated VCDs which are popular in the market.

After two or three visits to the shop, finally they have agreed to exchange with another brand. My next choice was Panasonic

Glad that I have done the correct choice. DVD S29 was able to play any disc in any format. This player has facility to make NTSC discs work and it is very easy to complete the setup in few minutes.

It works fine with all DVDs available in the market and same the case with VCDs.This player has all the functions of today's entry level DVD player including progressive scan.Another outstanding feature is that this player is very fast in reading the discs, unlike SONY where you have to wait for good 5 minutes to figure out what is happening.

The downside is that no display about time elapsed for VCDs.This player is less aesthetic and little more bulky but I will highly recommend this player if you are not interested to spend a fortune on a new TV and not to go thru frustrating experience with SONY service.
