Missing Features I Need
Pros
Fast forward with sound seems handy. Good image quality. Seems robust playing DVDs without glitches.
Cons
Missing Go To and VCD features. OK for playing DVDs from start to finish.
Recommended it?
No
After reading the reviews here I bought this. Today, I returned it for refund.
Like all players, it plays DVDs and makes a nice picture.
But there are features I had depended on with my 3-year old $50 Apex player that I was shocked were missing on this player. Here are three that were deal-breakers for me:
1) There is no "Go To" button to go to a particular time on the disc. There is a way to do it, but it involves going through several menu layers each and every time.
2) When playing Video CDs it is unable to display any information. It will not display the time played, the track number or the time remaining. Nothing!
3) There is absolutely no way to "Go To" a particular location on a Video CD.
I use Video CDs as a quick and easy way to transfer clips from my digital camera for TV viewing. It is way faster and easier than the DVD creation process and the image quality is completely adequate for television.
It is most unfortunate that Panasonic did not choose to meaningfully support this format.
