Pros Very nice dvd player for an ultra low price.
Cons Remote is funky.

Well we have kids, and anyone with kids will know that sometimes spending a little less on an item as some sort of crystal ball, insurance policy can be a good idea.

Pros Fast forward with sound seems handy. Good image quality. Seems robust playing DVDs...
Cons Missing Go To and VCD features. OK for playing DVDs from start to finish.

Pros Stylish design; reads DVDs well; responsive to remote
Cons no screen saver when paused; no "time remaining" display; remote has no volume...
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this to replace an APEX DVD player that was having trouble reading some DVD. This player read those same DVDs without issue. 2 years of technology advancement helped.

I don't yet have a HDTV so I can't speak to compatibility on that score.

I tried 2 Toshibas and 1 Sony DVD's. The Toshibas couldn't read DVD-R's: on couldn't read them at all, and the other one froze at times. This is pretty much a flawless purchase!

Picture and sound is ok for the price, watching DVD movies. CD sound is harsh, distorted, bad.
