TERRIBLE SOUND
Pros
It can spin a disc.
Cons
It can spin a disc.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Don't buy. Terrible sound. And it's NOT the speakers.
It's got a beat. Whoever trims these circuits should be shot. Not to worry. It was probably done by a machine. Because any human with ears would not have let this off the factory floor.
It seems the loudest note gets emphasized. The circuits think the lesser sounds should be muted. You've seen/heard it before on video. Loud music in a movie, yet when the character speaks you can hear him clearly. Because it mutes the background sounds.
Also on the ADSLR, the attack is clipped. So is the release at the end. It gives a tighter bass. If you're strictly into bass solos. But it does this with all the other octaves. Which makes it seem unnatural. When you combine the enhanced loudness of the loud notes and the clipping of the wave form you get a beat. Especially with music with prominent beat from drums, bass, or any prominent notes.
On 4-male-vocal harmonizations. It treats all the voices as one. The circuits look at the harmonization as if it was one singer and slurs it over. Especially on background harmonizations.
When you combine all of these shortcomings together, you have one terrible sound. Although, I must confess, if you're listning to music where one channel has voice and the other an acoustic guitar it sounds really clean. But you also notice the lack of timbre in the voice and guitar. Like making a recording of someone striking a bell, then cutting out the initial strike and the resonance at the end, as soon as it starts to diminish.
The sound seems to be centered in the 400 - 1000 Hz range. Anything below or above that is diminished. Which means you don't get that air. Or is it called spaciousness.
It's not the headphones causing the problem. Although it has its own faults with ergonomics the design places the sound squarely in the ears. The earfons sounds almost as good as my old ones that broke. They reproduce the sounds on my old player. Although the bass seems muddy. - I guess it needs the circuits for clean bass that this piece of junk provides.
