Just as an update: KNOCK ON WOOD. TV's still going strong (12/29/04-1/23/07)

I bought this over a month ago. Picture is terrific. No problems with fan noise or color. Sound is also awesome. It's so good, I'm still lazying around not connecting the surround sound / receiver.
I'd also hooked up a vcr size pc to this tv. Coupled with the Lite-On wireless keyboard with built-in mouse, this is a couch potatoes dream. I did find that the 50/50 split screen feature does not work with the VGA connector. Luckily for me, my pc (Asus Pundit) comes with DVI out. I just hook it to the Panasonic's HDMI connector and I can see tv and view the web at the same time (this is 50/50 split, NOT PIP).
Overall, this is a great tv. Now I'm waiting to see how long this will last. My last toy was a plasma tv that blew out on me one month outside of the 12 month warrantee :( No more plasmas for me.
