Breathtaking Picture for LCD projection
Pros
Sharp Picture, VGA Input, No Picture Burn in
Cons
Looks Like a video Boombox
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Outstanding Clarity. Flexibility with VGA computer inputs. No image burn in. I would recommend this tv to all who can afford it.
This TV uses LCD projection technology. It has a single halogen lamp in the back rather than having 3 tubes that each project a different color intensity converging into one point. This means that you do not have to do convergence like you would on traditional rear-projection tvs. Also, this tv is awesome because it is nowhere near as deep as a rear projection television.
I bought this TV because of its outstanding picture clarity, size, and flexibility. This tv can withstand direct sunlight or other light without creating anywhere near as much glare as a rear projection or a traditional CRT tube. I can plug my laptop directly into the television and use it as a display and surf the net from my couch on my 45" television because the tv supports XGA 1280 x 720 . Along with this, you can play computer games, and console games on this display with no worry about burning in the image like you would have with other rear projectors due to the LCD technology.
Progressive DVD compatibility? No problem. It displays a movie on DVD in all of its glory. Most people still watch most of their television in analog via cable, and it has a built in analog tuner to handle that as well as upconverting the analog single to progressive signal to eliminate the the horizontal black bars typical on analog televisions. Most people don't think about the weight of the tv being a factor but it is incredibly low in this set. Most big screens are difficult to move, but I also chose this because I move around alot and when I need to move I can take the tv with me without having to get my burly friends or hire some professional movers. The only gripe I have with this tv is its cabinet appearance looks like a boom box. My picky friend remarked that it should have a handle on the top so you can haul it around. But then I showed him what a true HDTV signal looked like on it via my HDTV satellite box and he consequently shut up. The built in speakers are more akin to computer speakers in their quality: very clear, but no bass. To most people buying this television, that is not a concern because they have it hooked up to a nice surround sound system. This is the perfect centerpiece to complete any home theater and it replaced my previous "centerpiece" of a 24" flat Sony tv.
This TV has the clarity of a HDTV plasma without the $10,000 price tag to accompany it. It has better clarity than a HDTV rear projection without the 24" deep tv cabinet nor the associated image burn-in from video games or other static images. There was no other choice for me.
