I have had this model for just over two weeks and bought a Toshiba DVD 1200 entry level to go with the SDTV. The picture is super clear and best price value with a line doubler that I could find. Plus it has the better 3DY filter. I highly recommend this model comparing it to higher priced HDTV units. The loss of 1080i functionality at some future point in time still unknown was well worth the $1,000 saved.
Sound is plenty for small family, I do not have it connected to speaker system. I spent several weeks comparing HDTV 1080i units costing $3K to $6K and found this picture of equal quality. Since I am happy with a basic DVD picture on it, and it is ready for the digital signals when they become more common, this TV was right for my needs. The 1080i's are a bit more for the money than most average users can even benefit from for 5 to 10 years. Give this model a look. It is being replaced by Panasonic with a new model with a line doubler at similar $2200 price point, good value for a digital projection model.
