I bought the big screen Panasonic PT-51SX60 as my old console TV was failing and I have bad eyesight! Ultimate Electronics delivered and hooked up the set within two hours of our purchase. For programming preferences this set is moderately easy, most of the options are superfluous, but for what it's worth, the center button on the remote control serves as an enter key and naturally the text is very easy to see. The television has a built-in stand, spatializer sound speaker set and built-in screen protector. A big screen TV's screen is ridged and more susceptible to damage, these run about $200 and are neccessities if you have children or pets. The picture is bright and clear except on CBS it is very slightly fuzzy. On all channels the picture-in-picture is crystal clear, it should be as this is a 2 tuner set; two televisions built into one.
We found a competitor's advert for a set at a similar price with an offer of a free VCR. We did receive a VCR gratis on production of the advert so it pays to get the Sunday papers and comb the glossy ads for comparisons, we negotiated for less than the recommended price. Make sure the warranty covers repairs in-home as mailing a big screen would be no joke. We bought a five year plan to cover repair or replacements, as the manufacturer's warranty covers in-home repairs, the five year plan takes over the same coverage (but make certain that in-home service is available on the plan you buy). High definition TV (HDTV) is just too expensive right now, but this set can be converted. Specification on:
