The ULTIMATE Buy at $1299.

Pros Size of screen, AUDIO QUALITY, split screen, P-in-P, lots of connections for auxilliary components.
Cons Absolutely NONE!! Just be careful of imprinting, as with any projection TV.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If 53" is the right size for your room (they say, view it from 3-5 times its diagonal size) Buy it for the next 4-5 years until plasmas are reasonable.
I previously wrote a review that had a complaint about a yellow line developing at the bottom of the screen.
I am supplanting that review because I know what caused it. I watch CNBC everyday all day, and they have a stock ticker that runs continually at the bottom of the screen and left an imprinted (not too dark) yellow line at the bottom of the screen. Hence, my fault!!
I bought this brand new for $1299. exactly one year ago.
This has been the best deal I have ever come across. It is just the right size for my 15' X 24' Den.
Viewing HP programming is amazing.
It has several adjustments to compensate for non-widescreen programming. 4X3 pulldown, zoom and another adjust that seems to work well for most everything.
Pic-in-Pic, split-screen. It has just the right amount of controls that you will actually use and few esoteric weirdo controls you have no use for.
Ok, it won't match up to a plasma, but who has $10,000 to get theater-size programming in your home.
I consider one of its best features to be THE ABSOLUTE QUALITY OF ITS SOUND.
I have since bought a $600 surround sound stereo that is just an embellishment to the superb audio of this TV.
If you don't need a new stereo, you can by-pass that extra purchase, unless you are trying to impress your friends, because the this Panasonic TVs audio is superb.
I also have my computer hooked up to it. My computer has a video card that gives me TV, so I can record to my hard drive and then play on my TV whenever I want---like a TIVO, but without the $12.95/month.
For good picture quality these connections require COMPONENT CABLES (like from Monster), S-Video connections over many too many feet can severely diminish quality. So go ahead & spend 80 bucks if you are going to hook up your computer and/or DVD to it.
I bought it at Boscov's, a chain in the Northeast. They put this model on sale for that price quite often and are always several hundred dollars under Best Buy or Circuit City.
If your room is the right size, you are not rich, and can find this TV for $1300. BUY IT! You will be pleased!!
