I am happy with this monster.

Pros Great picture when using HDTV or Components
Cons Make sure you have a big room with no glare from windows or lights.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If your a TV a-holic like me and want to be ready for HDTV, its worth it.
Ok, first let me tell you that I do not have the HDTV decoder required to actually see HDTV. It would do me no good because the cable company does not broadcast in HDTV yet. However, I did see the HDTV picture in the store and it looked great.

I use this TV for DVD movies and cable TV. Unfortunately, the TV is at the mercy of the quality of the signal it receives, and any flaw in the signal such as shadows, are very noticeable. Remember, were dealing with a 65" screen here. This is noticeable when watching certain cable TV channels on the lower end of the spectrum. There are some channels which the cable co gets and transmits as digital and those are very good quality. Keep in mind however that all the pictures that are received thru cable will look a little different from a regular TV because this is a WIDE-SCREEN TV. This is really meant for either DVD or HDTV signals and I will be damn glad when they start broadcasting in HDTV.

Ok, lets talk about the DVD signal. At the time of this writing, there was one negative opinion of this product and he stated that there were lines on the screen when using the sVideo inputs. I had the same problem!!!!!! My DVD player does have component outputs and I used those instead. The picture quality was excellent. Component inputs are what you should use anyway in my opinion if your serious about your TV. If you have a DVD player without them, you might have the picture quality problems just stated. BTW, VHS tapes play very well on this TV also.

I bought this TV thru the retail outlet HOWARDS TV in La Habra Ca. I suggest you NEVER buy anything from them. (Its too long of a story to get into that now) They have there own service people and they are novice's when it comes to this TV. I wish I had the service manual so I could adjust the screen grid convergence and pattern myself. There was a thin blue line on the picture at the top and after two people came out it was fixed.

Keep in mind that this is not just another TV and there are some other things to think about. I suggest that your seating arrangements are at least 10 to 12+ ft away from TV for best viewing. The screen on this TV is VERY reflective. You will need to eliminate all back-light sources. I had to buy new thick dark curtains for the room to solve this problem.
