The Panasonic PV-D209 is a quality videocamera for the price range it is offered in. My wife and I received this camera as a gift when our first child was born and it has performed admirably ever since.
The most positive thing about this item is its ease of use. There really isn't a lot to get wrong about using this camera. You've heard the term, "point and shoot", well that about sums up how to use the PV-D209. It is nearly impossible to not get good footage of your subjects. The only real way to blow the shot is to be unconscious or blindfolded. The "W" or "T" for wide or telephoto on the top of the camera let you shoot either a panoramic view or an up close shot with equal ease. You may have sensed a recurring theme in this epinion, and that theme is, in a word, EASY!
Many times you, the cameraman, are shooting footage in a hectic situation and the last thing you want is to be trying to deal with a thousand different gadgets. Not a problem with this item. A second strong selling point is the comparably reasonable price that this camera is offered at, for the money you will definitely be satisfied. Lets face it, why pay more for bells and whistles when the footage this camera takes is crisp and clear and at half the price of many other cameras. The camera can also be hooked up directly to your television, as an extra benefit.
The only downside is that using the light on the camera causes the battery to drain rapidly, but this is a general rule for all video cameras.
If you are an aspiring Scorcese or just a Dad looking to film Juniors first steps this camera is a solid performer that will justify its reasonable price many times over.
