The Bottom Line: Do not purchase because the components break easily and you are left without your TV while you are waiting to have one component repaired. Panasonic's customer service is bad.

The benefits of having a combo TV is not worth the aggravation when one component breaks. When this happens you are faced with the arduous and frustrating task of being without your television because one component is broken. I had my Panasonic combo TV for less than one year and suddenly the DVD player stopped reading discs. Getting help from Panasonic requires patience. I was on hold for at least 50 minutes the two times I called the 800-number. When I finally got through, the customer service representative was not helpful. Because of the limited warranty, the cost to repair the DVD component probably far exceeds the cost of getting a newer (and possibly better DVD player alone). I am weighing the benefits of getting the DVD player fixed against being without my television set for several weeks; having to lift such a heavy unit and take it into a repair center; and the overall cost for repair. My recommendation, if you must have a combo unit, is to purchase the extended warranty. This way when the set breaks (it will break) Panasonic will send a repair person to your home to pick up the problem and will pay for some of the repair costs.
