Pros Large 1/3.8" Megapixel CCD, Optical Image Stabilization, Pop Up Flash
Cons Included battery life
Recommended it? Yes

I spent a really long time (4 months) looking for the perfect digital camcorder. I wanted something that took great video, acceptable pictures, and had as many technical gadgets as I could afford. The Panasonic was competing against entries from Sony (like the DCR-TRV50) and Canon (like the Optura... Read full review »

Pros Excellent picture quality, megapixel CCD and optical stabilizer, features, size
Cons Price
Recommended it? Yes

The Panasonic PV-DV852 digital camcorder is definitely not cheap, taking into account that you can buy an entry-level model for less than $500. However, the entry-level camcorders are definitely inferior to this model in performance and features.

The DV852 features a megapixel CCD, 2.5?... Read full review »

Cons Audio (mic&line input) only average. Zoom takes a-while to master Auto-exposure icons...

I shopped the Canon 100mc, and the Sony TVR30 before deciding on this one.

I have been very satisfied with it--bought it right after it became available and have shot 10+ hours of video.

Image quality is outstanding, the traditional (barrel) camcorder design is easy to hold--but... Read full review »

The purpose of this feedback to help others in the same way that I was helped by earlier hands on reviews by purchasers.

The upper crust of consumer camcorders

Pros excellent video quality, optical image stabilization, tons of features
Cons expensive, bottom-loading tape, poor documentation, too many features
Recommended it? Yes

If you're not quite ready to jump into the very expensive world of professional-grade digital video, the DV852 is a good compromise. It stands at the top of the consumer-level units in terms of quality, features and optics, for under $1000. I could even go so far as to say it has too many features,... Read full review »

Pros The design is comfortable with a sharp look. Lightweight with many features. Very Compact
Cons It will not connect to my computer. I have Windows 98 Second Edition.
Recommended it? No

My driver will not install. The original driver that came with my camera locks up my computer. The updated driver on the Pansonic Web Site is not reconized when I try to install it. I cannot connect my camera to my computer. I've tried calling support but they did not help me. I'm probably going to... Read full review »
