The Bottom Line:  You will not be sorry for buying this camcorder.
After months of research and playing with all the digital camcorders I decided to go with the Panasonic PV-DV951.

I was reluctant to buy it because of the 1/6-inch CCDs but after comparing it to the TRV-900 I decided to choose panasonic for 3 reaosns: 1) This is a new model, sony's trv-900 is out now for more than 2 years. 2) 1488x1128 still pics. The TRv-900 only takes stills at 680x480. Yes, I know, if I wanted a megapixel camera/camcorder I should buy a stand alone digital camera. However, if you are going to buy a camcorder and it the has the ability to take still pics, wouldn't you want the higher resolution pics? 3) Last, but not least, Lica Dicomar Lens which blows away the sony's lens.

What I love about this camcorder is the video, of course! The picture is sharp, clear and portrays accurate colors. The photoshot (button for taking still images), zoom, and record buttons are at your fingertips.

The still images are also spectacular. I compared it to my Olympus 220 digital camera and my olympus pictures look "fake" compared to the PV-DV951 and that is by comparing both pics at 680x480 mode. Note: You would only want to use the 1488x1128 if you want to print pics that are more than 4x6.

OK now what I dislike. It doesn't have a flash. therefore I bought a Sima 20 watt self-powered light to attach to the PV-DV951 shoe (located on the top of the camcorder). I have to admit that it is a large light but when you are taking STILL pics you will need all the light you can get. It also brightens up the video. Of course if you are outside, during the day, you don't need the light. The low-light "problem" might be due to the fact that it has 1/6 inch ccds the smaller the ccds the more lights it needs. However, don't let my comments discourage you from buying this camcorder. It takes AWESOME pics and video.

Good luck and if you are going to buy online beware of the too good to be true prices. I bought mine at Edigitalstop.com for 1495 plus 25 shipping and it came in about 4 days BRAND NEW. Go to pricegrabber.com and price it out. READ THE REVIEWS of the merchants.
