This is an excellent quality camcorder. Often there's more to consider when reading reviews on camcorders, such as the lighting in the room. Perhaps it'd be given a bad overall review if most using this product fired it up without considering lighting. You can have the best camcorder in the world in front of you and still have a crappy output if the lighting is not right when shooting the scene. Lighting is one of the most crucial necessities in photography. That said, take reviews with a grain of salt and remember that in the end, the ultimate judge will be you. I'll state my opinion on this camcorder. I use this DAILY because I work on the internet as a 'performer', so my camcorder HAS to be in tip top shape. I've learned much about lighting, as well over the years and photography in general, so I do have more than a review to share, I also have some experience. :) I've had this one for a good year now and have had absolutely NO problems with it, to date. I also own a JVC (model JY-HD10) high-end (of the less expensive) professional high definition camcorders. Of course I could use that to broadcast live over the internet as well, but I couldn't use the high def function for this purpose; only to create replay videos, which still requires plenty of knowledge and the very expensive editing software to convert without losing too much of its HD quality. Close to HD as you can get online. Anyway, my point is .. (and I DO have one...;) .. that this Panasonic is well worth the purchase. The picture quality is good, to say the least, but excellent when used in conjunction with good lighting! Remember - good lighting can make ALL the difference.
