Let's Make An Amateur Video!!

Pros Image stabilization feature
Cons No digital recording option
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you're looking to make home videos without spending a fortune or lugging heavy equipment, this is the camcorder for you.
This camcorder is just what every new parent needs. Small, sturdy, and reasonably priced, it has all of the basic features necessary for making wonderful home videos of baby's first years...without having to learn all sorts of new things about how to work it.

It is comfortable to hold with one hand without needing a second hand to sturdy it. And even if you don't have the world's sturdiest hands, it has something called Digital EIS...this is electronic image stabilization...meaning that if your hand shakes a little, this fabulous machine automatically stabilizes the picture.

It has auto-focus and manual focus options, and can zoom in and out with its 26x hi-definition zoom lens. This means that if my son is doing something goofy in the other room, I can video-tape him from a good enough distance so that I don't distract him and cause him to stop.

There is a menu of various titles to have across your picture..."Happy Mother's Day, Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday, etc," and you can have it display the date and time as well...this is a wonderful feature when making home movies.

It has a built in light that you can set to auto, so that it senses when there in insufficient lighting and automatically turns the light on.

The camera has a flip-out screen on the side so that when filming you don't have to hold the camera up to your face the whole time. This screen also serves to show your movie as soon as you are finished making it...so you can review what you taped and decide whether or not to rewind & tape over it.

The tapes are small which is great when traveling - you can carry a bunch with you so you don't get stuck having to pay top dollar for them in souvenir shops. They can then be put into the adaptor that comes with the camera and can be played in your VCR. We bought an extra adaptor for the grandparents.

The battery holds a charge for a two hours and you can purchase 4 hour batteries and 6 hour batteries as well.

All in all it is a fabulous camera at a very reasonable price.
