Panasonic PV-S7670

Pros Great pciture and good sound
Cons Remote doesn't incorporate satellite box
Recommended it? Yes
Add a Panasonic Omnivision SVHS to your collection of electronic gadgets and you will never regret your decision. I have owned a Panasonic PV-S7670 very close to 7680 for more than a year now.

I watch all the rental movies, record my satellite, cable and digital cable shows on it. Picture and sound is excellent.

I am going to quote some features from the manufactures page and how important or true they were from my experience.

Picture Quality.
----------------
The manufacture's says. 1. Digital Auto picture that controls the video output for less noise depending on the quality of the cassette. 2. Digital auto tracking. 3. Manual tracking. 4. V-Lock control for jitter free stills. 5. DynAmorphous Metal Head/Color Noise Reduction/Advanced Noise Reduction.

Now from my experience, as soon as you pop a tape in, it takes a while and automatically gives you the best picture. This is to do with digital tracking. Also an available manual tracking lets you adjust it on your own. You can also adjust the tracking while pausing to eliminate the picture from jumping up and down. Infact while watching rentals, I noticed a considerable level of difference in quality between an ordinary 4 head VCR and this SVHS unit. This might be because of all the video circuitry mentioned above. Overall I was happy with the quality of picture.

On Screen Displays.
-------------------
Available in English, Spanish and French.

One minute Skip.
----------------
Machine goes into FF mode for a minute of tape and then resumes play.

I found this extremely useful for skipping commercials.

Audio.
------
Hi-Fi Stereo System. Accepts Multi Channel Television Sound Stereo MTS and Secondary Audio Program. Spatializer for virtual surround. So says the manufacture.

What this means is that, you can receive the main broadcast say in English and the secondary broad cast in French or Spanish. You can choose which ones to listen to. The Spatializer feature allows you to create this virtual surround mode. Good if you have just a TV and not a receiver connected to the VCR. Overall better sound than any other VCR's I have owned.

VCR lock.
---------
There is a way to lock and unlock this VCR to prevent kids from using it. Only operation that are allowed is eject and timer recording. Lock is reset after 24 hours.

Remote Control.
---------------
This unit features a multibrand remote control. You can program a TV and a cable box into this remote. But if you have a satellite box you are out of luck. You still end up with two remotes.

Inputs and outputs.
-------------------
Inputs. One set of RCA audio/video input in the front and one in the back. One SVideo input in the back. One set of RCA audio/video output in the back and one svideo out(back). One Coax in from antenna and one Coax out to TV.

I am sure you won't be disappointed with this unit. I was not.
