The Bottom Line:
Price v. Functionality, This is an easy choice... I would recommend this unit.
I have the PV-V4610 model, which is the same unit as the PV-V4611, except the PV-V4611 has the newer light-tower type of remote. It's hard to find this out, by the way.
I have an older model Panasonic VCR (PV-8664) downstairs and the software is very similar, but they have made some improvements.
The difference to be aware of is between commercial skip and commercial advance. At the risk of stating the obvious, skip just does a 1 minute increment of fast forward when YOU hit the button on the remote, whereas advance marks the beginning and ends of commercials after the recording is complete then auto advances through them during playback. This unit has the commercial skip.
Other than that, the PV-V4610/PV-V4611 models are almost as good as the older system I have that was 4 times the cost only a few years back.
