Panasonic PV-V4620 - excellent VCR
Pros
Name - very reliable products, expect the same from this
Cons
commerical skip seems to work sometimes but not others
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
The Panasonic VCR line has always been excellent quality and reliable. The PV-V4620 is no exception.
Panasonic has been a reliable brand and that was the primary reason for the purchase of the PV-V4620 4 head Hi-Fi stereo VCR. Sony was considered, but the previous VCR owned was that brand, and broke down, just prior to this purchase.
The unit has performed quite well. A quirk(?) is that when video from a camcorder (Panasonic, of course) is dubbed/recorded by the 4620, the commercial advance kicks in and takes several minutes to complete. That could just be ME being lazy and not setting the unit up correctly. It is not a big issue.
The timer works fine for recording TV programs.
I have noticed that when playing back a TV-recorded show that sometimes the commerical skip works, and other times it doesn't. I have not investigated to see if it is something I did, or if it is the unit.
The remote works fine. I like the "eject" button.
Video and stereo sound are both excellent. The unit is hooked to both a TV and an A/V surround sound receiver, so we can choose how we want the sound to be processed.
There's not a whole lot more to say. The unit is definitely worth the money and should continue to be for years.
