The Bottom Line:
This unit certainly didn't measure up to the ratings of other writers, though may have been defective.
First impression was that it was extremely light-weight, not a particularly good sign in a physically large model. It is almost 17 inches wide, designed to match up with traditional "rack" components. Remote is pretty, but is poorly designed, with many small buttons with minimal tactile feedback. Rew and FF sound like a small power tool. During forward and reverse search there is no tape position indication on either screen or front panel. Recordings made on this machine played with average picture quality, but will not sync on other machines. EP recordings from other machines will not sync; there is always a noise band somewhere on the screen and the sound is garbled, even using the manual sync function. Worst part: I didn't try this machine out when it was delivered - Big mistake. I just put it in storage as a back-up machine. Now, its out of warranty and I'm stuck with a unit that is probably defective.
