Awesome!

Pros Great sound, nice display, cool silver faceplate, easy to use, great remote
Cons Wish info would scroll continuously, afraid that motorized faceplate will wear out.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I definitely recommend this unit. It has many features that similarly priced units don't have and in Kenwood's case, it blows them away!
I received this from Crutchfield as a replacement for a defective Kenwood KDC X579. This unit blows the Kenwood away on almost every level.

1. This unit can randomize your MP3 disk even if the files are separated into different folders (something that the Kenwood was incapable of doing).

2. This unit has 5 preset 7-band EQs that you can tailor to your liking and then save. It also has an overall Bass and Treble control, a Subwoofer level control and Low/High pass filters for us sub users (not to mention the subwoofer outputs on the rear of the stereo). The sound quality and control is superior to the Kenwood.

3. The Faceplate is motorized and has 3 different tilt settings if glare is a problem. It also has 3 different Dimmer settings. This unit is VERY BRIGHT at night, and needs to be turned down when you are on dark roads. I would say that it is almost as bright as a small TV and it lights the whole front of my car up! Who needs neon? :) My only concern is that the motor or lights will wear out. This is my first motorized face unit, and we shall see how it holds up!

3. The display has some neato spectrum analyzer patterns, and it displays a variety of info about your MP3s/CDs. I don't like the fact that the info displayed only scrolls once. The one good feature about the Kenwood was that it continuously scrolled info.

4. The remote is very small. Besides a couple of changes I would have made as far as button placement is concerned, it has almost all the features that the faceplate has, making it very easy to run the stereo without ever touching the faceplate. The range is a good 3 or 4 feet. Very functional.
