Great price for Panasonic quality

Pros Good sound, good battery life.
Cons Lacks some features of comparable players.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If the particular features that it's missing are not of concern to you, this is a pretty good buy for a good quality player.
I got this player on sale as a replacement for a similar sony player that I had broken. Although I was pleased with the sound from the get-go, my first disappointment was with the display. Because it's a large display, I assumed that it would display track information, but it doesn't (beyond the track number and time). Over the six weeks or so that I've used the player, I've continued to be pleased with the sound quality and overall operation of the player, but have found myself increasingly disappointed at the lack of features and less than optimal design.

The design issue includes the buttons on the player and the remote. The buttons on both are small and close together, and it's difficult to navigate it without looking at it. This is important to me because I use it as a car player.

Beyond the display limitations, the most noticeably absent features include:
* the ability to scan through an mp3 file - by this I mean to rewind or fast forward over parts of a song. If you want to hear a line over again because you didn't understand the words, your only option is to skip back to the start of the track.
* the ability to play tracks in random order on mp3 discs. For me, this is the real deal breaker on this player. I primarily play mp3 discs in it, and if you don't need a random play feature for a disc with 300 songs on it, when in the world do you need it?

In its favor, I'll mention that it's never skipped and it has good battery life. Although it's mostly a disappointment compared to the Sony (the D-NE509), it does have better equalizer settings and headphones, and it's easier to navigate through mp3 discs with multiple folders.
