The Panasonic web site misrepresents this product, claiming:
"Full magnesium alloy case is the ultimate in strength and beauty. Combines high fashion looks with an impact-resistant casing that's 20x stronger than ABS plastic."
Most of the casing is actually thin and fragile plastic -- on the sides, the bottom, and the surface surrounding the keyboard. Only a panel applied to the top seems to be magnesium. I had this computer less than two weeks, treated it carefully, and subjected it to no rough use, carrying it around, in a padded sleeve, as is the point with an ultraportable. The front left corner chipped, and I discovered that the casing material is thin and fragile plastic, rather than magnesium alloy.
Adding insult to injury, Panasonic says they do not cover damage to the casing under warranty, and did not seem to understand the significance of the misrepresentation about the casing materials.
Check out the panasonic website for yourself. http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?storeId=15001&catalogId=13401&itemId=94956&catGroupId=25095&modelNo=CF-W4GWCFZBM-EC&surfModel=CF-W4GWCFZBM-EC&cacheProgram=11002&cachePartner=7000000000000005702
You'll note in the "technical specs" section that the casing material is listed as "magnesium alloy" only -- with no reference to other materials such as the 3/4 made from thin and fragile plastic.
