An affordable CD Player

Pros Under $60 Dollars, Rechargeable Batteries, 3-Sec Antishock
Cons Only 3 - Sec antishock
Recommended it? Yes
I bought this cd-player in July 1998 for about 55 bucks.
I still have it and it works perfectly. The amount of times a have dropped this item is unbelievable but it never once gave me a problem.

You can't ask for more in a Sub $60 discman. You get 3 Seconds antishock (enough for me in the car), XBS on/off (Extra Bass), 30 track programing and some other modes.

If you find the 3 Second Antishock a problem, you can probably buy a later model for not much more with 10 secs or even a 40 second one.
Another excellent thing about this product is the Rechargeable batteries. It comes with a built in recharger for the AA rechargeable batteries. I have only had to buy about 5 sets of the rechargeable batteries in for my nearly 2 years overused cd player.

In conclusion, this is a great solution for a little price. The only thing a changed were the headphones which I replaced with the one that fit inside your ears.

p.s. I currently, for home, have set up my own component home theatre which includes a discman, walkman, preamp and speakers. I bought a later Panasonic model with 40 Sec antishock for use on the road and this model is used on the home theatre.

Update I was told that I left out some things from my opinion.

First: Antishock is the ability of a player to continue playing without skipping when the cd player shakes. Antishock is done by spinning the CD faster so it can read the music and save before it plays, for e.g. A 3 second antishock player allows the player to not skip if there is 3 or less seconds of cd player shaking. The dissadvantage of this is that this causes a greater drain on battery life. The battery life on a charge for this player is 10 Hours without antishock and about 6 seconds with antishock on. Antishock can easily be turned on/off with the flick of a switch.

The actual sound quality is very good. Sound is clear and does not crackle. On some CDs, sound could be slightly louder but it is very good on most CDs. With the XBS on (The bass booster), you can really hear the Booms in the music. The volume is adjustable by a know in levels, from 1 to 10.
