I've had a portable CD player of one model or another for a while now. This one is an improvement over the others that I have had. First off, it has a 40-second anti-skip buffer. I had to be careful with my other CD players because even the slightest jolt would cause the CD to skip. I had to get used to this one not doing that.
Like many other models, this one has programmable memory, but I never use that so I can't comment on it. Another feature this model has that I haven't seen on a portable unit is a random-play mode. I didn't use this much at first, but I'm beginning to warm up to it. I have a lot of burns of tracks from other CDs I own and there are some songs I don't hear as often because I tend to play CDs straight through.
Speaking of burns, this CD player plays them much better than other models I've owned. With other models, I've had to coax the unit into playing most of the tracks and skipping a track meant coaxing all over again. I don't get that with this one. It plays them like any other CD I use.
I think the best feature to be the long battery life. I use rechargeables for most of the battery-operated electronics I have, mostly because they go through batteries so quickly and CD players tend to be above-average when it comes to draining batteries. I can't give you an exact play life, but there is a notable improvement. I've been able to go an extra day or two without changing batteries. The only down side is that the warning signal is hard to notice.
Given the features, though, I'm happy with this one.
