Panasonic SL-S360 - This CD player is Amazing

Cons
will not survive a nuclear holocaust

Yes
I used to work for Sears electronics and to show customers the quality of cd players we would pound away at them when they played. Anyway we would beat the Panasonics like there was no tomorrow and for months they just kept on playing. Also, whenever they got returned, it was because the customers did not know how to use the player. In my entire work period at Sears, never did i see a Panasonic cd player returned because it was defective.
The two we really tried to break and just couldn't were the 360 and the 361.
Like most portable cd players this Panasonic plays cdrs and on occasion will play a cdrw, I can not remember exactly what brand it was, but it played it just fine.
The shock protection says it has 40 seconds, but I when I tested it, it only lasted about 37 at the most?which is actually good enough. And the battery life of 25 hours, far more than other similar cd players, lasts somewhere between 10 and 40 depending on the batteries and the volume.
The Tests
When I tested the shock protection I played a song for 1 minute and used a stopwatch to time my shaking. Since I could look into the window, I could see that the cd had stopped spinning so knew that the music was running from the shock protection.
The battery life was tested on volume of 10 (as I can recall) with some really cheap batteries and the shock protection on. I plugged the headphones in and let it play on repeat for the whole cd. I checked back every 30 minutes. Naturally, it lasted shorter than the advertised time, about 10 hours.
For my second test I used the Sony heavy-duty ultra (or something like that) batteries. I turned the shock protection off and set the volume to 1. (zero is the lowest) Naturally, the batteries lasted longer, about 40 hours.
I was going to test it again, but realized that I am a poor recent college graduate. So in conclusion I would say that the battery life is more a function of the batteries and how loud you listen to the music. With normal use, most users will get about 20 hours. (I realize that I changed two variables with only two tests and that my scientific research is subject to much criticism)
