Panasonic SL-SW870
Pros
Size, durability, good sound
Cons
Headphones are not for all, price
Recommended it?
No
Solid product, but excessive in price. Good full sound with a very sturdy body (aluminum finish body). Some of the 'pros' are ...
1. Size. Slim body design.
2. Durability. Shockwave unit that is sturdy with sidelocks. Aluminum body tends to 'dent' not 'crack' when dropped.
3. Sound. Lots of bass from VMSS. Full sound, not 'flat'.
4. Design. Visually appealing design. Handgrip accessory a bonus for those who need a way to carry/travel with the unit.
Some of the cons include ...
1. Volume. The unit is not very loud. Sound at higher volumes tend to become distorted as there may be 'too' much bass.
2. Headphones. Could be a 'pro'. The VMSS headphones shake at low frequencies. This tends to be a 'big hit' or 'total miss' with those considering to give this unit or any Panasonic VMSS units as a gift. Headphones have a vibrating pad that sits at the base of your neck that vibrates. Either it 'amazes' you or 'repulses' you. If the headphones break, you have to replace them with a VMSS headphone IF you want the vibration.
3. Price. Excessive in my opinion.
4. Battery life. VMSS and the anti-shock together ... kill the batteries.
All in all, the type of unit geared towards 'teens' or individuals who specifically request a VMSS (vibrating headphone unit). As a gift, BEWARE as not everyone is too keen on the unique headphones or the VMSS feature. Shop around. Look for the use of ultimate user of the unit. After all, you are paying for mainly the VMSS and Shockwave shell.
