PanaSUCKA! =(
I needed a CD player. My old CD player didn't have a radio on it and it just "didn't work." I later found out that I put the batteries in wrong, but hey, I still needed a radio on my CD player. My aunt got this for me for Christmas and I wish she would have saved her money.

"Panasonic SL-SX289V" Portable CD-Player: A Dream Come True...
Why I Purchased a New Personal Player...
In 1996, I originally got a "Sony D-152CK," just before the days of anti-skip technology came into fashion. The Sony was well built, and came with a car-kit adapter which included a special "shock absorbing plate" which, to be honest, never really...

***SUMMARY***
This product is among the inexpensive items, you can find it for about 60.00. But don't get me wrong, it's a pretty good CD player. In comparison with other brands that go from 90 to 100 dollars this does all the things that the expensive ones do.

Don't Bother
I bought this cd player because I previously had a Panasonic and liked it for the price. I lost that one and bought this follow-up because it was relatively cheap and easy to use. When it came home with me the bad news kicked in, which was fairly low headphone volume and way too much skipping,... Read full review »
Good for its price
Panasonic has always been known to have good products, specially when it comes to audio. Because of that when I was looking to buy a cd player, I checked out the panasonic equipment first. Right off the back one caught my attention, the slsx289v. It had what I was looking for (cd-r, cd-rw playback;... Read full review »
All Around CD Player
This has pretty high volume. It has the best radio pick-up on a portable cd player I know of. 30 easy to set pre-set station. The volume doesn't go up and down very quickly. The anti-skip is great. It has only skipped once for me and that was beause I beat it against my floor as hard as I could... Read full review »
Nifty CD Player At a Nifty Price
I got this portable CD player as a gift so that I could listen to CD?s and the radio while working out at the gym. My last player was a very old Panasonic tape player/AM FM radio. This CD model has been very durable and easy to operate while exercising at the same time.
The CD player has...

Overall, a great CD player
This player comes with everything: digital radio, 40sec anti-skip protection, 30 station memory, s-xbs bass-boost, several play modes, and most importantly, a hold button. Although the stations will take a while to preset, when it's done, the CD player is very easy to operate. I bought it for about... Read full review »

Panasonic SL-SX289V Jogger Model Portable CD Player
The Panasonic SL-SX289V portable CD player was made with active use and listening flexibility as prime design factors. Spin your recordable audio CDs or listen to the radio, with an inline remote control or without. The choice is yours. The SL-SX289V features Panasonic's "No Skip" anti-skip system. "No Skip" construction was designed with rubber bushings to absorb the shock, while a thin and light anti-skip mechanism and anti-skip digital servo system add to the defense. It also boasts a digital-servo recovery system that can detect even a fractional difference in the CD's tracking and quickly recovers before it has a chance to "derail." And, the system is bolstered by an improved set of error correction chips together with a 40-second backup memory buffer. When a vertical shock (along the axis of the disc) causes a tracking error, the system plays back music from the memory buffer until correct tracking resumes. The radio offers 20 FM station presets and 10 AM. Since the SL-SX289V enables playback of CD-R and CD-RW discs, you can enjoy listening to CDs that you make in addition to conventional audio CDs. This unit also features programmable playback (up to 24 tracks, in your chosen sequence), random play, repeat play (either one song or an entire disc), as well as XBS bass boost. The player includes a "pop-up" disc eject mechanism for easy disc removal. The CD player uses two AA batteries (not included), which last up to 25 hours with CD playback and up to 75 hours using only the radio. You can also power the unit with an optional 4.5V AC/DC adapter, which lets you plug your portable CD player into an outlet. With a heat-resistant polycarbonate body, the SL-SX289V can be used in most outdoor settings without worry of damage. However, the unit should not be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. What's in the Box CD player, stereo headphones, and a user's manual.
