Oh yes, it didn?t break when I dropped it on the ski machine!

Pros cheap, crisp sound, quality, remote, looks
Cons no pause button on remote
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It gets the job done, with the highest quality!
Off To Best Buy! -

Driving down Jefferson Rd in Henrietta New York, I thought ?What I am going to do with this $50?? Well, it soon struck me that my other discman had broke down on me several weeks after I had bought it. What a little piece of _____! So I thought to myself ?A high quality discman would be something valuable and fun to have?! So I went ahead to Best Buy off Jefferson Rd. to Hylan Dr. This store was well stocked with a large selection of discmans. When going down the selection, I found one that looked very cool, and yes, by Panasonic! The price was only $49.99. Best Buy does offer a two year insurance plan for your item of purchase. The insurance for my discman was only $8. Also, this store has a smaller selection of discman cases. Since the electronic did not come with a storing case, I bought a leather one for $14.

Battery Use (A Long Time)...Hooray! -

The Panasonic SL-SX390 uses two AA batteries. These batteries are usually the most common among them all, and are thin to easily store. Also, there is a guarantee of at least 40 hours of usage of this discman, per set of batteries. Some other discmans do not operate on batteries, so they have to recharge them from electricity outlets.

Looks....The Latest Styles! -

This discman is probably the most modern in looks, not to mention hippest. There is a transparent blue coat of plastic on the outline on the front. Therefore, you can see a little bit of the CD you are playing, as it rotates many times to play your songs. Within the blue outline is a large silver cover. On this cover, it says ?Panasonic SL-SX390?. On top of this name, there are small silver buttons to control the player. Next to the small buttons is a small screen that shows what song you are on, and how far in you are to it.

Sounds....No Screeching! -

I have found this discman to have the clearest sound from any discman I have used. The sound is actually so clear, that you think you can hear a screech from the microphone! Yes, just a small screech. The sound quality is much higher than your everyday boombox or radio.

Headphones (A Nice Piece Of Quality)! -

You can use any type of headphone on this CD player. Matching headphones actually came with this discman, so this is a good deal! They are silver and have a blue transparent circle in the middle. On the top, you can adjust the size so it fits the size of your head. When I was talking about the sound quality, I was talking about the headphone sound quality. Since this is a product of the discman, you are most likely going to be using the headphones that came with it.

Play/ Pause The Song....NOW!....Honey. -

To turn on the discman, hold down the Play/ Pause button for about four seconds. You can tell which button this is, as it is the bottom one on the right, closest to the circular screen. It has an arrow pointing right, and then a slash ( / ), and then two small lines going straight down. The arrow symbolizes the ?play button?, and the two parallel lines symbolize the ?pause button?. The slash symbolizes that there are two different uses for that one particular button. Other than that, the slash has no apparent use.

Stop, In The Name Of The Law! -

The ?stop button? is located on the left. It is the lowest silver button, and it is also smaller than three of the other buttons. If you want to stop a song, press the ?stop button?. If you want to turn off the whole machine, press the ?stop button? and hold it down for about four seconds. You will recognize the ?stop button? because it is a small square.

Fast Forward, I Don?t Like This Song! -

The middle button on the right is the ?fast forward button?. This button helps you control which song you listen to. Since the first song is automatically played when you turn on the discman, this button gives you the freedom to change the song. Every time you press the button, the player goes to the next song. Say if you want to go to song nine from three. Press the button six times and then you?ll be at song nine. This is easily done, as the transaction is easily made. The look of the ?fast forward? button is two small arrows pointing right. These arrows are next to each other and are touching. At the end of the arrow closest to the right, there is a small line.

Rewind, I Want To Hear That Song Again! -

The ?rewind button? is the one in the middle, left of the ?fast forward button?. This button lets you go back to songs that you have already heard. For example, if you are on song 11 and you want to listen to song eight again, you press the ?rewind button? three times. Then the eighth song will start. The ?rewind button? has two arrows pointing left, and then a line going in front of the arrow closest to the front.

Volume, Blast It! -

Volume ranges from 1-25. 25 is the loudest, and your eardrums will probably hurt if you listen to the CD that loud. As a matter of fact, the discman is most likely to break easier if you listen to all the songs on the CD at 25. A good volume is 20, because it is not too loud, and you are not disturbed by the sounds around you. Volume ten and up is when people can hear what song you are listening to. Nine and below is only when you can hear it, and it does not bother other people.

Other Cool Qualities Dude!

The ?EQ button? is a small blue tab that controls the type of sound. There is concert mode, and regular mode. With concert mode, you feel like you are at a concert. The base is on, and the sound is a little more crisp as if you are at a concert. Regular mode is when there is no base, and the sound is not as crisp and..... ?fresh?. The sound is as if the song is being played on the radio, and you do not get the feeling that you are at a concert.

If you turn off the discman between songs, then you turn it on again, the player will automatically go to the song you stopped at. For example, if you turn off the discman between songs eight and nine, when you turn on the discman again, the ninth song will automatically start playing.

There is also a small remote that comes with the discman. It has a ?hold button?, which is a lock so that you don?t accidently hit a button. If you do hit a button by accident and the ?hold button? is on, nothing will change. The ?hold button? prevents you from changing what you are hearing. Also on this remote are the ?volume buttons?, a ?stop/ play button?, a ?fast foward button?, and a ?rewind button?. There isn?t a ?pause button?. This remote can connect to the headphones and the discman at the same time, so it is kind of like the half-way point of the wires.

Conclusion......Hmmmm!

Five stars all the way. I have not found a major problem with this discman. The only con I found was that there isn?t a ?pause button? on the remote. However, that would be getting picky! The sound is clear, the looks are hip, it plays my CDs with no problems, and it is cheap! What more to ask for? Oh yes, it didn?t break when I dropped it on the ski machine!
