Extraordinary!

Pros Plays MP3 files (even VBR), battery life, no skipping, price
Cons No LCD screen.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Affordable MP3-Cd player, with great battery life and durability.
This is the best portable CD player I have owned, bar none. I usually have some pretty bad luck with portables. Over the last four years I owned four different models (from Sony, TDK and Panasonic), and they all either broke or became obsolete quick. I have to say the SL-SX420 blows them all away.

This model is very sturdy, plays MP3 in addition to regular CDs (including VBR MP3 files) flawlessly, and it never skips. In several weeks of usage, it has to skip once yet!

I like the thinking behind the engineering of this player: the anti-skip system is always on. You don't have to turn it on, as in other models I owned. It's a portable player! It should always be on.

My favorite feature has to be the long battery life. A set of two AA batteries lasts me for a week. Previous MP3-CD players I owned were real battery hogs (particularly the TDK Mojo, which used to consume a couple of AA batteries per day!).

The only feature missing in this unit is a LCD screen to read the song tiles or the ID3 tags. But if you just need a MP3-CD player for use when working out or running, this is not a vital feature.

Overall, this is a very sturdy and reliable MP3 CD player for a great price (I paid less than $50 for mine).
