Excellent portable CD for the price
Pros
Great price, terrific anti-shock, very light.
Cons
Low-end headphones, weird usability choices, feels a little loose.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
For the price, this is the one to beat. I use it walking, on my Bose Radio, and in the car, and it works flawlessly in all cases.
This is a really great little CD player for the price.
Unlike a lot of the other models I looked at, the design is simple and style takes a backseat to included features. I got an exceptionally good deal at $49, but even at the usual price of $60-70, this would be a smart buy .
The unit includes all the basics: AC adapter, car power adapter, car mounter, cassette adapter, and headphones. All the components work well except for the headphones, which sound muffled and thin (which is not a surprise on a model this cheap). I am sure the issue is the headphones, incidentally, because when I hook this up to my home and car stereos the sound is really very good.
My only complaints besides the headphones concern the durability, and the controls. The unit feels a little loose overall. My Sony Discman survived many, many drops over the years, and I don't think this would be quite as durable. As for the controls, most of them are big and very intuitive, but for some reason the random option is separated out to a switch on the side of the unit instead of a button on the top like everything else. This simply makes no sense.
