Great Picture/Nightmare of Service Calls

The Bottom Line:
Buy it ONLY if you can get a deal good enough to make you ignore any mild operational sounds deemed 'normal' by the manufacturer
I purchased this tv to replace an LG 42 inch plasma, which I had so many service problems with they finally returned it and gave me credit to use to buy a new one. I chose the Panasonic TH-50PX75U becuase it was on an incredible sale at circuit city and I wanted to upgrade to the 50 inch for the space I was putting it (mounted on the wall). I have to say overall I love this tv.
I did have some service problems with it as well (i'll explain in a minute), and although the customer service began as superior, when they realized the 4th service call was scheduled, they suddenly began finding excusing for why the broken tv was now 'my fault' or 'normal operation'. In reality they came 3 different times for the same problem, each time replacing components of the TV and remedying the problem. Each time, the problem came back after a short time and I had to call again. SO...when it came to the 4th service call, I think they realized that if they came out to my house and admitted there was still a problem, they would be liable, by their policy, to replace or return the unit. SO they blew me off and told me what was happening was normal operating occurances.
What was the issue: The issue is a loud cracking/popping sound that comes from the left side of the screen. It is loud enough to make my cats jump and make people watching a movie comment on it. It sounds like a clear malfunction of something in the screen or plasma. Now i know some occasional sounds are 'normal' with plasma as it heats and cools, but I assure you this sound is WAY above the 'normal' threshold. It was loud enough to make the service guy replace components three different times.
So I find myself extremely happy with the picture and overall features of the TV, but on the service side there is much to be desired. And now I have to live with a tv that sounds like is cracking every 30 minutes while I'm watching it.
I'd recommend only if you can get a good enough deal on it so that you can ignore any mild operational issues.
