Fantastic HDTV

Pros Fantastic picture quality
Easy to use remote
Cons Slight delay when changing channels
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line: I recommend this HDTV because of the high picture quality and ease of use with the menu and remote.
The Panasonic 37" Viera is my second HDTV. I was in the market for a cheap 32" HD set but purchased this set because of the capability to receive 1080p and the extremely low price of $1,000 from Best Buy.

Admittedly, I was suspicious of the low price and lack of information on the Internet in regards to the set. However, I decided to take a chance and make the purchase because it was the first time I had seen a true 1080p set offered at such an affordable price. I did not want to pass on that deal.

Simply put, the set is amazing. The picture is crystal clear with bright colors and black levels that are in perfect coordination with one another. I have not experienced any problems whatsoever with the set. In comparison, I had issues with my first HDTV purchase (Samsung DLP 4663 HLP), specifically the audio and video sometimes were out of sync and the picture would freeze on occasion. No such problems have happened with my new set. In fairness to Samsung, I am very happy with that set overall. The Samsung TV is almost 4 years old and receives transmissions in 1080i. Clearly, 1080p is superior.

One point of caution - if you are extremely picky in regards to picture quality make certain that the viewing area is at least 5 feet from the TV. Initially, the viewing area was 4 feet from the set and I could see a little "fuzz" (I cannot think of a better term) in the background. I have since wall-mounted the TV and can no longer notice that issue. The 12 inches makes a difference. In addition, like every other TV, the sharpness level from the factory is way too high. I turned it down to 10 and that has probably assisted in resolving that minor issue. I recommend using the HDMI connection if you are using cable and for a DVD player.

The analog stations look good and the sound quality is fine although I do not have a surround sound system hooked up to this set. DVD's look good although I am not using an expensive Blue Ray DVD player yet.

If you are in the market for a HDTV, this is a great buy if you can purchase the set for $1200 or less.
