I've owned this TV for well over a year, I got it as a floor model on clearance. I wasn't too worried about it being on all the time at the store. It has a 100,000 hour life span, which I'm sure I'll probably have replaced it by then anyway. The picture quality is great for HDTV, Blu-Ray movies and video games. The picture quality is ok for standard definition television, lets go television companies all HD no SD already. It stands up to abuse, I have five kids and they are always touching the screen. Oh and electronic companies can you please build televisions without the controls being on the bottom? My kids are always turning it on and off and opening the compartment with the channel/volume buttons.
