Pantech Matrix Review
Pros
Dual slider, full keyboard, bright display, connectivity, sound quality.
Cons
Battery life.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Definitely recommend the phone. The price I paid is after the BOGO offer and the rebate. Even at a higher price, well worth it.
I recently purchased the Pantech Matrix (C740) in what was a very good deal through AT&T. The offer expired on Christmas Eve, but the deal was a buy-one-get-one-free offer. I bought this phone (along with another) to consolidate cell phone services with my girlfriend.
While eliminating a cell phone bill and saving money was my main motivation, for her the motivation was a better ability to text. The phone offers a slide up feature for the numeric keypad, but also offers a side slide to reveal a full keyboard. The dual slider with full QWERTY keypad is ideal for texting, internet use, etc. I also like the ability to cover the phone so there is no accidental dialing. This is similar to a flip phone I had many years ago, but the reception with this type of phone is much better. The phone offers all of the features that are standard now including a 1.3M camera. The phone claims to have a standby time of up to 250 hours and talk time of up to 3 hours. It has not been my experience to get nearly this much time. The phone is not the easiest to learn, and the user guide is a bit much, but experience is often the best teacher when it comes to any type of electronic device. The display is an easy-to-read 2.2" LCD screen with 260,000 colors. Resolution is 176x220.
