I bought this model primarily because of the zoom range of wide angle to telephoto (28 to 90mm). I only found three P&S cameras starting with a 28mm wide angle focal length. I have no regrets in choosing this zoom range as it is very versatile for everything from indoor group shots to portraits while on vacation.
I chose the Pentax for the its reputation for reliability and ergonomics. So far so good. My only remorse is seeing the quality of the pictures when compared to a friends' Olympus Epic Stylus. His prints are much, much sharper and have better color saturation. The flash on the Olympus seems to be much better balanced across focal range. With the Pentax I do notice some flash fallout in the extremes of the focal range.
Overall I am pleased with the camera. The pictures are generally acceptable to good in quality but not razor sharp. I will be trying a faster film (Max 800) to see if that helps to compensate for the flash coverage. This is great camera for individuals looking for general purpose photography (snapshots) but not for those of us that have expectations established by regular use of an SLR camera.
