Probably the best camera I've ever owned.
Pros
Awesome optics, Full feature suite
Cons
Double flash red-eye reduction requires a warning from the photographer
Recommended it?
Yes
I've owned the Pentax IQZoom 928 QD for about a year now, and I love it! Previously I have owned an Olympus SLR and a couple of other cheap point and shoot cameras. The Pentax puts the cheapos to shame, of course, and also gives an average SLR a run for its money.
Before purchasing the Pentax IQZoom 928, I did a lot of research. Being mainly interested in high quality optics that render crisp, bright, colorful photos, I was directed towards the IQZoom and the Yashica T4. It should be obvious that the Pentax has many more options and is much more flexible than the T4.
The best thing about the 928 is its Zoom range, 28mm to 90mm. I've heard many professional photographers mention that a wide angle lens is ten times more useful than a zoon lens. I've found this to be true as well. At 28mm, the Pentax takes in a large area that you will appreciate time and time again. The zoom lens is best used for composing your shot.
Options include those found on other point and shoot cameras such as red-eye reduction and a timer. The Pentax also includes a suite of options that you normally only find on an SLR... bulb mode, different flash options (no flash, flash fill, etc), spot focus, etc. It can even be set to panoramic mode, and it has a date stamper, which you shouldn't leave on all the time. I only use the date stamper once per roll, if that.
The red-eye reduction causes the flash to fire twice, so you have to be sure to warn your subjects of the double flash. Often, they will relax and start to move after the first flash, thus messing up the actual photo which follows with the second flash. That's really the only quirky thing about this camera.
I would recommend the Pentax IQZoom 928 to anyone... a great little compact camera that takes excellent SLR-quality photos.
