A couple of years ago I was finding the point-and-shoot cameras too limiting, and I decided to buy a Pentax SLR because of affordable price, light weight, fast autofocus and because it had all the features I needed at that time.
I liked the camera very much -- I was taking it to dusty desert and mountains, and it worked without problems. The interface is very convenient and easy to use. About a year ago I upgraded the lens from the standard 35-80 to 28-200.
On my recent trip to mountains I accidently dropped my camera from about 1 foot height to a hard pavement, and it stopped working :-(
However, I still want to stay with Pentax, and I just bought ZX-5N that has the features I missed, although controls seem a little bit more archaic than those on 50.
