This camera is almost perfect. I wanted to get into photography so after talking with several people at the camera store, I decided to buy a Pentax ZX 50 with a 35-80mm lens. I like it because it offers fully automatic operation, but allows shutter speed, aperture, and focus to be set manual. The manual gives a good description on not just how to use the camera, but how settings adjust the picture, a useful thing on any camera. After using this camera for several years, I have found that the included lens doesn't offer a very useful zoom ratio. I got a 80-300 lens and this allows me to shoot close-ups and wide shots using the two lenses.
My other problem with this camera is what has happened to it over one and a half years. The shutter button sticks sometimes, making picture taking harder, and the on-off switch requires careful nudging to make it work.
However, I would recommend this camera to someone just getting into photography, as the automatic mode is good to start and then users can switch into manual mode after they are more comfortable with shooting. Just make sure you take good care of it, as neglect will cause damage.
