The Bottom Line:
Great camera, inexpensive price, can be used manually for us creative types and for point and shoot occasions.
Just bought the ZX-50 based upon reviews on this site and camerareview.com. It's a great camera and I'm glad I purchased it. I have an older (1972) Konica rangefinder and have tired of it scratching my glasses. I purchased this camera in part because I'm taking a photography course at college. It takes great pictures. I may be a convert to the SLR camera. All controls are easy to use. My only complaint is that the aperture is difficult to change when wearing gloves. I paid $279 for the camera with a 35-80 zoom lens. I also purchased a 50mm 1.7 lens for low light situations. Both have worked great. The autofocus is very accurate and works in all but the most difficult focusing situations. Focusing manually is smooth. The viewfinder is fairly bright. All in all a good camera. A friend purchased the ZX-30 which has superseded this model (although plenty of ZX-50s are available), and he reports that he has enjoyed the ease of use and his pictures are GREAT! I have only used the camera manually and with black and white film. I look forward to using it on vacation.
