Bought this unit at Home Depot for $279 in July 2004. Worked well for DVD and TV cable use (never used VHS), until this week (Feb 2005). All of a sudden, it won't power on. Now I discover that I have only 3 months labor, but 12 months parts warranty. Needless to say, I have never had a new purchase 'die' so suddenly so I called the retailer back on this as well. Sorry, they don't carry anymore so I am stuck with the warranty coverage. Local service provider is not even open on Saturday. So, buyer beware, don't make purchases on 'price alone', watch the warranty, and pick your retailer. Although I love Home Depot, I will stick to home improvement purchases there in the future and may never buy another Magnavox.
Prior to this major problem, other complaint is remote control. You can't really find your way around all the buttons without reading glasses and a good light. This aside, we enjoyed the TV/DVD operation ... while it lasted ... lets see how the warranty coverage works. So far, not happy with anything that 'dies' after 6 months.
