Magnavox 27MDTR20 27 inch TV/VCR/DVD Combo TV

I was shopping for a dvd player, and my uncle recommended that he get me this model tv instead, so I naturally accepted. I sold my perfectly functioning GE set that was about 7 years old, and hadn't given me a single problem. This thing only made it slightly more than a year before the dvd player completely failed to operate rather suddenly. It was cheaper to buy a portable player than to ship and fix the one in the set. Also, this is a very difficult item to attempt operating without the ORIGINAL remote (a $45 replacement, should this be needed). Universal remotes will not operate a number of basic (seemingly) functions. Just due to the inconvenience of having to take the whole deal for repair (which I've never had to with any of my home theater components...ever!) I would recommend against purchasing this unit.
