The Bottom Line:
Do NOT buy! Use your money for something that will last!
I bought the Philips 42" (42PFL3603) in February 2009 at a local store and initially, it worked great. The picture was nice and it fit well in the space I needed it for. Luckily, when I bought the TV, I also purchased the the extended service plan. It has been 18 months and the TV is DEAD. It was on one minute and the next it shut off. It will not power back on at all, neither from the remote nor from the power button. The warrenty from Philips has expired so I contacted the Extended Service Plan company and they are sending out an electronics company to service it. Before they even came to look at it, they called me saying they knew what it needed and that it would take 7 -11 business days to get the part. They will call me to schedule a service date when the part arrives. I've read other reviews online and it seems others are having this problem as well. I just hope they can fix my TV or give me back my $800. I would like a TV to last at LEAST 5 years. My old TV is in my son's room and was bought in 1996...it works like a champ!
