High Performance, Low Price

Pros Excellent picture quality, even with cable signal. Still perfect after 1 years use!
Cons Side AV ports may be blocked by wall unit. Remote control a bit too complicated.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you can find an HDTV with all these features for this price you better buy it, but I doubt you will find one to match the Philips Elite Series.
I writing this review while watching "Goldeneye" on the USA network during commercial breaks. Why mention this, because the picture quality on the Philips 60" Television is really excellent even with a cable signal. Some cable channels are of a lesser strength but even those look to be more than acceptable. When viewing an HDTV signal or a DVD it's outstanding even from two feet away! The price makes the Philips a technoligical gem to be mined from your electronics store. The remote control is a little hard to learn as compared with SONY's remote that comes with their similarly prices WS series HDTV sets. I found my 60PP9352 at BrandsMart in South Florida for $1898 during a sale (normally $1998). The cabinet design is very contemporary but not overdone. I prefer the same width for the whole unit as opposed to a narrower lower section. Speaking of width the Philips site lists the 60PP9352's width at 59.3" but in reality it is 3" less. The unit is also very light on its feet as well with rollers which allow easy movement for such a large TV. Its two month later and I still feel the same about the TV - very satisfied.

Well, its been a year since I purchased my Philips 60" Widescreen. I like it even more, it has performance has been flawless. I now have a Panasonic DMR-E80 DVD recorder with hard drive hooked up to it so I'm using it more than ever.

Past details but worth mentioning: As an added bonus Philips is throwing in a complete Home Theater system ($350 value) to all buyers. It is the Philips LX3500D which is a progressive scan unit with 4 speakers and a sub-woofer. The also are giving away 26 weeks of Blockbuster video rentals with each purchase as well. Both offers good through Jan. 4, 2003. There is a good review on the 46" little brother to this unit on this site that contains lots of good "techie details ", be sure to check it out.
